Anointing of the Sick
turn to God
Comfort, Strength and Hope in Times of Illness
When illness or serious health challenges affect us or someone we love, we can turn to God for comfort and strength.
The Anointing of the Sick brings God’s grace, peace, and spiritual strength to Catholics who are seriously ill, preparing for major surgery, or experiencing a significant decline in health.
A Sacrament of God's Care
The Sacrament can bring:
- Comfort and peace during illness.
- Strength and courage in times of difficulty.
- Spiritual healing and renewal.
- God's presence and grace during suffering.
- Hope for the person who is sick and their loved ones.
When Should You Request the Sacrament?
Families are encouraged to contact the parish when a loved one is seriously ill rather than waiting until the final moments of life. Early pastoral care allows the person to receive the Sacrament prayerfully and with greater peace.
